Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Spiti Tour Package


Q. 1: Which is the best time to visit Spiti valley by car/ best time to visit Spiti valley?

Answer: Spiti Valley remains open from Shimla Side throughout the year, except for the few days of heavy snowfall, it can be visited by car at any time of the year.

The best time to visit the valley is April to October. During this period, most of the places are accessible to visit by Normal Car/ Taxi, the days are longer and sunny giving you sufficient time during the day trips, the Kunzam Pass opens up and you can complete the Spiti circuit i.e. enter from Shimla and Exit from Manali or vice versa.

If you are an adventure enthusiast, you can travel from Nov – Feb. It will give you an experience of a white Spiti. You enter the valley from the Shimla side and exit on the same route.

 

Q. 2: How many days are required to visit Spiti Valley?

Answer: The Popular tourist places in Spiti valley can be covered well in a minimum of 5-6 days. If you want to cover the entire valley including a few less explored places and a few lakes (Dhankar Lake, Sopona Lake), you will need 7-9 days. If you have more days you can cover Kinnaur as well.

 

Q. 3: Which side should I enter Spiti valley and why?

Answer: Spiti valley is easily accessible from the Manali side. The pass connecting Lahaul and Spiti, Kunzam pass, generally opens in June and closes by October. If you are short on time, entry and exit from the Manali side are recommended.

If you have sufficient time, it is recommended to enter via Shimla and exit via Manali as it gives better acclimatization to altitude and very beautiful views along the Satluj River passing through Shimla and Kinnaur District.


Q. 4: How to reach Spiti from Kolkata/ How to reach Spiti from Mumbai/ How to reach Spiti Valley?

Answer: Chandigarh is the nearest well-connected city to reach Spiti. Chandigarh has a regular Airport/ Railway Station/ Bus Station connected to different parts of India and abroad. Unless you charter a Heli Copter, the following is how you reach Spiti Valley:

Road: Chandigarh >> Shimla >> Rampur >> Pooh >> Khab >> Nako >> Tabo >> Kaza

or

Chandigarh >> Manali >> Atal Tunnel >> Batal >> Kunzam Pass >> Kaza

Rail: Reach Chandigarh and follow the Road Route mentioned above OR reach Shimla (connected to Kalka by a narrow gauge track) and follow the Road Route shared above.

Air: Reach Chandigarh and follow the Road Route mentioned above OR reach Shimla or Manali (Bhuntar Airport) (connected to Delhi by Air) and follow the Road Route shared above.

Please note that Flights to Shimla/ Manali rely heavily on the weather hence cancellation is high.
